What can I do to make my room like new? please help!

Question

I have a little bit of money around $40 or so, I can use some decorations. Any DIY projects or just new ways to make it cute? I like to be creative. I'm not the girly type though.

Walls are white very dirty though =//

ask your parents for support with more money and paint the walls a color preference you have and buy some posters or pictures to hang up. your room will always look new if you keep it tidy and not with a lot of artifacts keep it as simple as possible.

My daughter went to home depot, in the paint dept. they have miss tinted paint, sometimes you can get a nice color cheap. She took two rolls of tape a sponge and painted her room real nice. At home depot they also have cool ideas and directions on how to paint your room.  check it out.........

I think you should definately repaint the walls, a new color will add a new freshness, choose a cool color, maybe not so vibrant, but not so clean like white either because as you saw..white paint turns an ugly shade of off white eventually

Ohh and try to get the wall a color that matches your bedset

I think to take up the wall space you can buy giant picture frames [you can get those anywhere like Kohl's Walmart or something] and make collages of pictures with them. and if not the frames, just buy thick Oak Tag to make it, once again if you're able to match the bedset, themes are good too

Add stickers and letters and stuff to it to make it stand out more

You should buy maybe a cool lamp with colors that match your wall and bed set too

what i do to my walls is get chalk in different colors and i wrote song titles that i love and quotes and lyrics and stuff all over ALL my walls. i really like it.  it's cheap and really cool

i also bought some cork boards from wal-mart for about $4 each and i put all my movie tickets and pictures and newspaper clippings etc. on it and that looks really cool.  i also put up some drawings i made when i was about 4 or 5. i like how it came out.  i've got lots of pictures of when i was a kid and some from now, so i put those everywhere.  

here are some pics of my room that i took real quick.  my theme is the rainforest, there's a pic of my rainforest mural, and if the color of my walls don't seem the same, it's cuz i changed the colors on my computer so you can see the chalk better.  sry-they're a little blurry, but you get the idea. the pics of the door are of  my closet.  the inside has pics of people surfing from a surf mag. and the outside has projects i did when i was little.

i also had other people write on my walls with chalk- so that made it more fun.  and the thing about the chalk is, it comes off real easy with water and a paper towel, so it's easy to change and such. and you can be as creative and fun as you want without ruining anything.

just have fun with it and it'll be cute.

have you tried the freecycle sites in your area?  www.freecycle.org then go to your state and then your city. You can ask for certain things like curtains, a day bed, bedroom furniture, carpeting, etc. The area that I live you can get all kinds of really nice things for free, as long as you can go pick up the items. Or just read the things that people are giving away and if you want it, ask for it. Check it out.

get some magazines.. if you aren't girly get sports mags.. and cut out the things you like and get glue dots and stick them on your wall. If you go to Ikea they have cute rugs, you could get one and put it over the carpet.. you could make yourself pretty window curtains with some fabric you can get from a store.. idk.. just some ideas. good luck

Painting the walls would be the first, best way to make it look all new!  You might try to call some of the paint stores and ask if they have any custom colors that weren't picked up, because sometimes they'll sell them really cheap.   And you might get a really great quality paint for the price of regular.  You will have to take what you get, and then you can plan your room around that.  If you live in apartment or rental, you can still paint your walls a fresh new white. New throw pillows and pillow cases on the bed, with matching throw rugs, go out in the yard and cut some large leaves off of canna's or banana trees (ask your parent if this is okay first) and put them in a pretty container with water; change the leaves out every couple of days.  You can do a lot with the cheapest spray paint too.  Make sure all of your picture frames match:  I've taken all of my picture frames  from over the years and painted them matte black (I get flat black from Walmart for 97 cents) .  You could paint all of yours flat white, but be aware that an adult (18+) will need to purchase the spray paint for you, and supervise it's use because it's dangerous for young people to breathe.
