  1. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think "mesmerize" (# 6544) would be a great color choice.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

  2. Get rid of the antique furniture and rug. Get a cream or brown sectional sofa and hang paintings that tie in with the colors. Paint the wall with the fireplace dark red. Good Luck! :]

  3. d**n, huge room.

Well first, you need to get rid of that furniture! Get something more modern..you could probably find something at ikea.com.

As well as those curtains and the rug. Find something that suits your style. I suggest painting the room the color you'd like it to be, but make sure everything matches.

Hope this helped, good luck with redoing the room :)
