What can I do to prepare for crew try-outs?

  1. I have the same problem, wish i would of done it las year.

If you have access to a rowing machine, practice rowing.  Try to push your time per 500 meters below 2:00 minutes.  For your technique, going forward on the machine: arms, back, legs.  Pushing backwards (the work part): legs, back, arms.  This is the order that you should unfold.  Try to keep your back straight so you don't strain it.  

    If you can not use a rowing machine, then work out in a gym.  Run.  You do not have to be fast at running but need to be able to do the cardio for extended periods.  Lift weights.  Work especially on your legs.  Doing workouts for your back will benefit your own health down the road if you make the team.  Overall, just try to get into shape.
