Question:

What can I do to protect my wrists from falls?

I have been figure skating for a year, and my mum has always told me to "watch out for my wrists" because I have tendonitis in both wrists and when they get hurt I have to stop playing cello and piano for a long time, along with other sports. My wrists have been fine up until recently. I have landed double sal, double loop and double toe (cherry), and I am taking a lot of double flip falls on my wrists and they are hurting. Tube supports don't help. What can I do? I know there's a lot more falling to come...

  1. you can can wrist protectors at a local sports store

  2. I have had the same thing with my wrists I just wrap them up with the bandage wrap and it works very well. Just wrap a thick layer of it around your wrist and it should pretect them when you fall. It wount bend back.

    Hope this helps :)

  3. personally, i dont think wrapping your wrists is actually going to help you.  i think the problem is coming from the way you are falling.  when you fall, you should never ever ever ever use your hands to support you.  just let yourself fall.  trust me...ive been skating for ten years

  4. just go to a skateboard store or a bycicle store and go get some wrist guards and use that. It will work i tried it i fell and it protected me.

  5. Wow you got really far in only one year! I skated 9 months longer than you and I can only land jumps up to the lutz. I envy you. Lucky!
