  1. Ideas & musings:

Look into city meetings when there is petition for a developer to rezone land. But it may be that once a company buys a lot, there may not be a lot to be done at that level.

Talk to your district's council folks or the mayor about preserving some of those lands. Or enact some kind of clause or law that keeps developers from doing clear cutting. In San Antonio, there is a battle going on about the definition of a tree vs a shrub. Shrubs ok to cut, not ok to cut trees. Developers are trying to sway our community leaders that some of the smaller native trees are shrubs so they can help themselves to clear cutting.

Inquire what the local Sierra Club is doing about that issue. I'm sure they would welcome concerned newcomers.

Plant a wildscape in your yard to create a haven for some of the displaced creatures and perhaps inspire others to do the same.

Hope some of these ideas gets you going!

  2. I know how you feel. They are doing the same thing around me here in Ohio.  It's awful.  Seems like every corner wooded lot is being cleared for yet another bank, car dealer, etc.

It's starting to lose the charm of what made me happy to live here in the first place.  Then, everyone will be complaining because raccoons and deer are in their yards.  Well, how about if we try to control the human population rather than to continue building and wiping out all the other species...

  3. Only one thing you can do . Strip the rich of all there wealth .There not Gods there ignorant greedy rich people destroying the earth and all who live on it .

  4. I have lots of info that I think you will find quite helpful and enlightening:

Let us all strive for a greener/brighter future by helping to create a solid foundation for future generations to build upon, so we can hand them a beautiful world, filled with never ending awe and wonders!!

Where peoples differences and uniqueness are accepted, where we all live as one, helping one another so that we can all play our own mysteriously beautiful melodies in the never ending, awe inspiring, song of life :-)

I truly have faith in humanity and believe that someday our lives and the world in which we live will truly be transformed for the better.

  5. It's very very sad when people destroy nature but I'm afraid you can't do much by yourself.

What you can do is join of form an activist group and protest as much as you can, gather as many people as you can and raise awareness. Unfortunately, most times these forest clearings are allowed by the local authorities, and in this case, all you can do is try to organize some marches, but for this I think you need special permission for this. And it very rarely helps.

Or try contacting the greens, maybe they can help.

I'm really sorry to hear this, because the same thing is happening  in the country I live in also in Europe.

  6. If you really want to get into this you can start a petition and go to the governmant. But if you just want to help willife as is start picking up litter and clean lakes of trash

  7. A popular conservative saying is: every day is earth day when you own the land.  Buy up as much property as you can.  Also buy hunting and fishing licenses, those funds are put to exceptional ecological use.

  8. Anything that will stop population growth and urban sprawl. This is the root cause of all wildlife habitat loss. The expansion of housing and business development is just growth answering the demands of the population.

  9. you might also try your local chamber of commerce, and the local forestry  service. You could do an online search for groups  that do recycleing, and freecycleing. Ask teadchers and libraians for help in finding just what your area may need and see what you can do to get it organized. I do a blog and am always posting ways toe recycle, and ways to go green, keep up with the "green news" and stay aware of what is going on around you. yahoo now has green yahoo. checkit out. and there are online groups which you can join for these issues as well.

  10. 1.  Buy up all the available land.

    2.  Buy a hunting/fishing license.  These licence funds are earmarked for habitat maintenance and improvement.

    3.  Don't use paper or wood products.
