What can I do to solve this USB connection problem?

When my printer ( HP LaserJet 1020) is connected to a USB port, I can't connect other USB devices to any other USB port. I tried to connect my camera and flash drive but a message pops up in the taskbar saying that the device has malfunctioned and Windows can not recognize it. But when I disconnect the printer, this doesn't happen and I can connect and transfer data from USB devices without any problem.

Can someone please tell me how to solve this problem...I'm using Windows XP service pack 2. Thanks everyone!

  1. Change the cable to your printer - the usb cable is the problem.
