I cant move my arm behind my back or even pull up my jeans without severe pain.. Is there an exercise i can do to try loosen it as my muscle/tendon feels like its too short or too tight? Has been like this for 2 or 3 months now?

Doctor says.. yes yes you have a frozen shoulder (wot does that mean anyway??) rest it and take ibruprofen..wich gives me no relief at all.. Can I get therapy on the Nat Health as I cant afford the £30 charges that private therapists want?! Then maybe I cud ask m'doctor to refer me?

Thanks..

  1. There is a treatment available - sadly not on the NHS though.

If you can get your doctor to refer you to anyone get him to send you to as osteopath - they may be able to help.

Otherwise you can ask to try cortisone injections - they work about 50% of the time so well worth a try!

You have lots of sympathy - I have had frozen shoulders on both sides - the right started before the left had finished.  I was really helped by visiting a private osteopath - but unless you have private health insurance I can't see you will be able to get that help - sorry.

  2. the fastest way to deal with frozen shoulders is local steroid injections which have a 70% success rate. most GPs offer this service themselves. the alternative is physio and your GP should be willing to arrange an NHS referral. Waiting lists in some areas are however unacceptably high.

  3. You can insist on seeing a physio under the NHS.

Frozen shoulders can be sometimes not too bad,but often a very serious physical condition. You get referred by the GP so wear a short skirt on the day and smile.Once  with the physio they can answer all your questions and hopefully fully recover your shoulder. In the meantime Ibuprofen.Move the shoulder but not over extend otherwise worse. So gentle exertions only

  4. Contrary to the previous answer yes you can get physio therapy on the NHS or at least I did. It might be one of those post code lottery things. I have an SO post code.
