What can I do with a degree in Anthropology?

What type of careers can I have. Would they pay well? I love anthro stuff.

  1. You can do any job that only requires a BA.  These don't usually pay all that well.  You could take some education courses as electives and become a teacher.  This doesn't pay well.  You could go to law school or business school.  These can pay well -- but the top B-Schools will want you to have work experience.  You could go to graduate school for anthropology.

    Beyond that, the only thing you can really do is hunt for hidden treasures in your back yard.


  2. Grad school will help. A few years ago, there was a push in corporations to deal with cultural issues associated with mergers and acquisitions. HR departments were called on to somehow find ways to bring divergent corporate cultures together. Thus, the skills learned in Anthropology (participant observation, ethnomethodology etc) proved useful.

    You should also take a minor in another area, and I would suggest business or education.
