I have an Emachine with Vista op sys. What types of things can I store on a flash drive? Can I store media on it - like download a video from the net and play it from the flash drive without saving it to the actual hard drive? What about programs? Can I store a program on the flash drive and run it?

I am a total newbie when it comes to flash drives so explain the whole thing to me, please.

  1. you can save what ever you want on a flash drive from movies and music to games and programs. Just as long as you have enough space on it. And yes you can save directly to the flash drive without saving it on your hard drive.

  2. for media and documents of course you can store and run it from flash stick ,but for programs you should ba aware of they must be portable which means they don't store values in windows registry and don't store files on my documents folder, you can know if the program portable from the it's websites.
