Question:

What can I do with all my empty water bottles?

So, I've started to drink a lot of bottled water lately, both at work and at home. That starts to add up to a lot of empty water bottles. It kills me to throw them away.

I'm looking for creative ways to use the water bottles. Can anyone think of any uses for all the water bottles other than throwing them away?

I'd really like to find a way to recycle/reuse them and if possible, find a way to recycle/reuse lots of them. If you can think of any ways that you've reused them for or that might work please let me know.

  1. Recycle them or reuse them yourself. I know what all those health people say, "Don't reuse them because of germs."  That may be true, but sometimes we need some germs. :)

  2. just make sure they end up in the trash can, remember don't be a litter bug!

  3. Your best bet is to buy a filter pitcher and a sports bottle.  You can filter your tap water (that is what Aquafina and other brands are anyway) and just refill your sports bottle.  It is a lot cheaper and creates a lot less waste than buying bottled water.  They can be washed in the dishwasher if you are concerned about germs.  Refill the ones you have.  You can fill and freeze them and use a bottle in your lunch bag or cooler as a refrigerant instead of ice.

I have seen bird feeders made out of 2 liter bottles so I would guess you can do the same with 1/2 liter(water) bottles.

But I would definitely suggest you stop paying for new bottles every time.

  4. OMG.  Recycle, recycle, recycle.  All grocery stores now have recyclable containers outside of them.  Even Wal-Mart.

  5. Creative? Try this. Penn & Teller have a routine where you grab a cat. you put an empty bottle under your other arm. you act like you are twisting the cats neck just as you smash down on the bottle with your arm.

  6. Best way to use them is recycle. And if you have some time and if you are creative find out how to use bottles in you home. May be you can make some thing by using them instead of throwing them away.

  7. Burn them. The Ozone loves the smoke produced from 'em. Or, you can cut the bottoms out and glue them to a board, put it on your roof, and collect rain water.

  8. recycle some of them and then maybe put water in it and freeze it. maybe also take them to school so the kids could use them for projects. or maybe put spare change in them.

  9. here is some stuff on bottled water

recycle and drink less bottled water

you can use a canteen with tap water just as well

  10. u know that if u go to a recycler factory they give u money for giving them recycable stuff... it depends on the weight or how much u give them.. like 3 good big bags they would give u 15-20 bucks

  11. Here is one short and sweet

    -Recycle

  12. This can be a big problem this time of year. This is what I do. Buy a water filter. Fill it up each day and keep it in the fridge. Then fill up 3 -4 bottles at a time and they'll be ready to take with you when you go out. Keep recycling them in this way and you'll never need to buy another bottle again!

  13. Dude, just put them in a recycling bin. They're at stores, malls, apartment buildings, schools, parks, etc.
