Question:

What can I do with my broken guitar strings?

Is there a company that you can send/take them to and they like recycle them or something?

Or can I make something with them?

I really hate to just throw them away.

And it would be memorable if I made something with them.

Any ideas or websites with this stuff let me know.

Thanks.

  1. <3 eco-conscious players!

Indeed, the metal used to make the strings, first is mined, then made into steel - a process that makes greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere. The EPA recognizes steel production in the US as a sizable contributor to global warming.

Some players boil their strings to get more life out of them. Many other ideas can be found on the URLs that follow.  Rock on!

  2. well all i can think of is to make them into cool bracelets by just melting both ends.. or to braid it and see what else you can do..

  3. Strings are made from steel - same as soup cans.  So, just throw them in the recycle bin.
