  1. How long have you had her? If you try to handle your parakeet before three days it will make itself sick. Start slow with her shes been through ALOT of change! what i did with my two is i start by after three days of letting them get used to their new environment move there cgae to a small room (preferably the bathroom)  and the open the top of ther cage. back up and let her ocme out herself! when she does, close the cage and move it out of the room so it will not tempt her and make her retreat to the cage, then start with a perch training. You do this by calming her and then offering her the perch or dowel. Lightly press the perch under her belly and lift a little,as you do this say step up, she should hop right on. if not dont push her and wait 5 minutes and try again, once shes mastered that skill then do it with your finger!! Its very important that you always use the step up command in case shes full flighted and goes up to  a very dangerous place, the step up command will save her! Hope i could help. if she still shake after a few days you will want to call and aviaryin doctor. this could be a serious illness!! :) best of luck with your new friend!! :)

  2. just give them time to get use to you. Talk to them everyday. nice and calm. I did that. and now there use to me. I hope this helps. Enjoy.!

  3. try to whistle at it and try to talk to him or her. it's just not comftorable yet. also try to buy it some treats and bird toys for it to play. that's wat i did

  4. Any cats or loud dogs at your home?  'keets  can be timid in new surroundings ~ please approach the cage slowly, speak in a low comforting tone, with no sudden movements. Repeating short phrases will offer familiarity (pretty bird, Hi there, hey baby)....Please be sure to cover the cage at night, birds require at least 8 to 10 hours of quiet and sleep...Enjoy your new friend!
