  1. Do you have a older neighbor?  If so make friends with them, ask them if you can help them in anyway.

If that isn't something you think you might like, then go to your local animal shelter and vol. your time to help with the pets.

If that doesn't sound like fun, check to see about being a big brother or big sister in your area to children who need it.

If you live in a town with a big park, go there and make new friends.

How I wish I was young again, I was never bored and found doing these things so full filling.  I made new and life long friends.  Plus It made me feel special helping others, for they made me feel so special.

  2. Hmm, maybe visit your park and bring a basketball along. Find a group to play with and maybe you'll make some new friends over the summer ^^

Take up some kung fu classes or go paintballing ^^

Or go to your one of your favorite band's concerts if they are playing nearby :)

  3. You have a great opportunity!  There are lots of things you would not normally do if your friends were around.  You like to exercise so make it more interesting.  You can divide it up so that you are only doing a little each day.  (jogging one day and skipping rope another weights or exercises on other days.  That will keep you from getting sore.  Keep a record of your weight to see how that tracks with your program.  Set a goal.  Perhaps there is a race toward the end of summer that will take place nearby.  Check your progress weekly with some sort of test:  how fast can you run the same distance each week or how many times can you lift that weight. etc.  Make a chart of your progress. Try some different kind of exercise that you haven't tried before and possibly combine it with another purpose.  A long distance bike ride to a park or library.

Think about this:  Is it better to practice the things you like and do well or is it better to do different things that you have almost never done before.  Perhaps it is a little of both and so maybe you should think about what you can try that you have never tried before.  Rock climbing, swimming or hiking or maybe even dancing or learning how to make something.  Do you know how to make a velomobile?

But how can you learn something you haven't ever done before?  If you know someone you can talk to them.  If not there is a whole world of resources in the local library and online.  You can start on a subject and learn more about it than anyone you know.  When your friends come back you will know something they may never even had heard about.  Keep a record of what think you know and write down what you need to find out.  How many kinds of birds or butterflys can you see in your area?

If this happens every summer then this is the summer you should do something so that it will never happen again.  What about learning a new language?  Too hard? Then just learn the numbers or to say hello.  What do you know about astronomy?  How many constallations can you name.  If you were lost at night and could see the stars could you at least walk in a straight line?

Look at all the different subjects on Yahoo Answers and then look at the sub catagories.  Do you know something about each one?  At least what it is.  Learn how to play a game or maybe several and something you might see again, a card game, a board game

When I had the time, I really enjoyed talking to people my grandparents age.  I enjoyed hearing about what seemed like a very different life.  I thought that instead of just one lifetime I could learn about 2 that way.

Maybe there is some place nearby you could at help out a bit.  Have you ever helped to feed an alpaca or grow a tomato?  During the year you learn things because you are supposed to but THIS is Your chance to learn because you want to.  You really don't have much time.  Gosh, there really is a lot you could do and it might take all summer just to make a list!  I hope you find something very special this summer.  Think that you will and it could very well happen.  Do you know why?
