What can I do with old silver chain necklaces?

Hi Katieann,

  If they are real silver,  you should make good use of the and save money on holiday presents.

If they are silver... get some TARNX and dip them until they come out white and sparkling.    The price of metal, including silver is going up so to buy a new silver necklace would probably be $50.00 or more.

Anyway,  clean and polish it.  Go shopping for a nice silver charm or pendant and you have a lovely, relatively inexpensive birthday, mother's day, xMas present for someone special.... that you would have had to pay big $$$ for at a jewelry store.

You are getting lots of nice ideas...  so I thought I would add little different suggestion.

here is a bunch of ideas

add to a picture frame = for that special person or memory

make key chains - add beads or charms

make book marks - add beads or charms

make your initial for the cover of your journal

add to a belt = plain or decorated

put on a lamp base in your bedroom - add lots of different sizes for a layered look - you could add a pendant or not

add to the back of a pin for your jacket or purse so that different lengths hang down -

chains are a good embellishment to your scrap book or an altered book - you can add to the chain with beads or charms or just the chain around a special word or saying, or photo.

add to jewelry you already have - create something new and improved -

if you look on the internet at different sites where people are selling crafts made with silver chains you could probably get a lot of ideas.

I like to make purses from old pairs of jeans. You could use them as decorations on there. Or you could add beads or charms to them and make new necklaces. You could make them into Christmas tree decorations. I have used them on a lamp shade that I covered in purple shiny paper for my daughter's room.  There are thousands of things you can do with them. Just imagine where they would look good.
