I've been randomly collecting water bottle or milk bottle tops for a few years now and i have quite a lot... but now i'm moving and i don't know what to do with them! I need to get rid of them, but i don't want to just throw them away...

Are there any charities or recycling places that are actually in LONDON that I can give the bottle caps to? If so, please direct me to one. I know about GHS, but I don't have time to go that far out of town. Please help!

  1. My childs school are collecting plastic bottle tops to swap for electric wheel chairs. The school is Kingfield Infant and nursery and are in Woking in Surrey. You might want to contact them and post them.

  2. Make them into a statue or something artsy! Or even sell them on e-bay!!! People buy the weirdest things! Even I would buy your collection of water bottle and milk bottle tops!

  3. just for the record as long as you take the lids off they can go with your plastic bottle recycling, the reason they ask you to take them off is that when they are recycled they are crushed and the lids can come off like bullets!

  4. flush them down the toilet

  5. There are lots of collections of these for charities currently - if you advertise them on your local "freecycle" pages you should get a response.

Alternatively take them to your local tip where they will have plastic recycling

  6. I think from where I found your post you are from Clinton County.  St. Paul in Highland is actually collecting the milk tops, they are going to recycle them and make a picnic table out of them.

If your not from clinton county call your local schools.

  7. send to junk shop so it can be recycled

  8. Donate them to a school to use for crafts. Especially primary school age kids or even a bible school at a church.

Not sure how London does it but in SC we have recycling centers so ask your local one which bin to put your plastic tops in .

Hey - Ebay is not a bad idea.  Folks may want them for crafts.

  9. I work in Los Angeles for a non profit that uses fun trash in arts and craft projects. Maybe a local school would could use the caps, as long as they are clean. Round things make great eyeballs and wheels.

The last time I visited a plastic recycling plant (Talco) they talked about caps. They are a different density than the bottle, and there is a process to separate them when the material is heated. Although it's possible not all recycling plants do this, and have to remove them by hand.

  10. give then to kids in your old neighborhood for their art projects.
