Question:

What can I do with these? I don't want to throw away, but no one else can use these...?

I have some t-shirts I made in high school for football games, they have my bf's last name on them so donating will be pointless because no one else will have use for them. (plus I don't even know if you can wash them!) also I have a duffel bag w/ my name monogrammed on it really big.. I'm not ever gonna use it, it's just taking up space but again no one else can use! (my name isn't common). AND a backpack that all my friends signed and wrote messages to me on... same problem! What can I do with these other than donate or throw them away? anything? I'm moving soon so I'm trying to get rid of things that I don't want to take w/ me. Thanks

  1. Give them to the Salvation Army store in your town, or donate them to a Homeless Shelter, your church.

Waste not, want not.  There are folks who can more than likely use and appreciate those items.

  2. Giving the shirts to a charitable organization would be okay.  Let them decide the usefulness.  Another idea would be to use the shirts as dust rags.  Cut them up into various sizes and once they get dirty wash them and keep them for future dusting.  I would keep the backpack.  Put it in a small cardboard box and on the outside of the box write (in large letters) what's inside and the year.  Seal the box and put it in a safe but out of the way spot, maybe an attic, and forget about it for the next twenty or so years.  Eventually you will have the opportunity to open it, maybe with your kids, and as you read the names all of those golden memories will flow.  If the duffel bag is well built and dust proof I would use it for storage.  You can always throw it away but remorse could be tough later.

  3. Drive downtown and give them to the homeless. They will appreciate it.

  4. I do not agree with the other answers about giving to the Salvation Army or shelters.  If they have your last name or your boyfriends, I would not.  The old letters from friends if you don't want to keep them , burn them.  Don't get me wrong I donate to the Salvation Army , but not anything that has my name on it.  I think I would just throw everything away.

  5. cut/rip them into strips, lay them down on a backing fabric (any old thing) and machine embroider over this. you only have to use a couple of strips from each. it doesnt have to be too big. then fold this inside out , machine round the edge, attatch some buttons, turn it the right way, and you have a groovy cushion case covered in memories.

  6. You should donate them anyway, people who are homeless and/or poor don't care what name the duffel bags and shirts have on them, as long as they can wear them or use whatever it is you are donating, I'm sure they will be happy to take it !
