What can I do with these fabric scraps?!

First of all, if you're going to tell me to make a quilt, please don't.

I have about half a yard of three different colors of microsuede that I used in a craft project to decorate my dorm room. I have quite a bit left, and don't want to throw it away. Any crafty things I could do with it (with or without sewing) to spice up my room a bit more?

  1. I am doing the same thing. I met some quilting lady today, that wants me to make quilts with them... but don't worry I am going to make curtains. I have matching shades, so it wont look tacky. It depends how big the scraps are for that, and how much sewing you want to do. Pillow cases for your bed work too, or a table runner on your dresser? Just attach tassles to the ends if you want a more finished look. Or make a tote bag for extra stuff to store, that matches your room. Just some ideas.

  2. Maybe you can sew all the pieces together to make a unique laundry bag? I love the ideas about pillow covers, curtains, and table runners! About the only other thing I can think of is to frame them, especially if they have interesting patterns on them. Or you can hang them from your walls for some extra color.

    Good luck!

  3. cut in strips and weave to make small rug or table cover, throw cushions, find patterns for yo-yo dolls, small wall "quilt" stretched in wood frame, patch work throw to cover legs when studying, small treasure bags for storage or travel, book covers, cover small boxes for treasures such as jewelry

  4. You could make some comfy lounge pillows with them.  I have three of these in my living room.  They are large overstuffed pillows that you can throw on the floor or the sofa.  My kids love to watch TV on them.  They are also great for reading in bed.  You can stack them up in a neat pile that looks nice too.

OR you could make covers for your chairs with them.  OR make a bulletin board by covering a piece of fiber board with the fabric using staples.  Criss-cross ribbon over the board and you can place photos and notes under the ribbons.

  5. you could cut and sew them in a design then stretch them over a frame and hang on the wall.  use them as pot skirts for your plants.
