What can I expect at a quince anos?

At one time I catered for a catering service that did primarily weddings and we did one for a quinceanera, but since I was serving stuff, I really didn't get a chance to observe much.

A friend of mine, who is interested in me, invited me to come to her sister's quince anos, yet I'm more or less going for her and not her sister. One of the things I remember from seeing at the quince anos is they played reggaeton music late at night and whatnot after the whole ceremony was pretty much over.

well think of of it like a wedding, us Mexicans go all out when it comes to  our daughters coming of age, there's the a mass, then a reception, and lots of food, alcohol, and dancing, not necesarily reageaton

lots of tequila :) lots of dancing;) lots of food:) bunch of tacky(we're all tacky at 15)  kids messing up the waltz since they more than likely fooled around at practice...makes for a good laugh... if your going for your friend leave a good impression on her sister by giving her a good gift. I know from experience giving a retarded gift will have her and the entire family laughing..but if you get her something nice might impress the sister hence benefiting you.

A quinceanera is pretty much a coming of age party for young ladies. It's what a sweet 16 used to be here in the states.

The girls wear beautiful dresses and are presented to the crowd as a woman. The party is usually huge and packed with everyone the family knows, and all of the girl's friends.

There's lots of musical entertainment. Some of them have the parents talk alot or slide shows and whatnot. Some funny relative might tell funny stories from her childhood.

well a quincenera is when a girl turns 15 and shes basically a "woman" they have a party and they play music eat food then they have a special dance like the waltz and the quincenera has her chambalans [men] and they might have damas [ladies] and they all do this dance.. and its fun alot of dancing.. speeches and everything
