I was just wondering what should I expect after her AIT job training at Fort Lee as a Automated Logistical Specialist. Does she have to go overseas?? Can she just go to college for four years after her AIT job training (92A I believe) and don't have to leave again?? Is active duty only after the contract is finished? Her contract is 6 years long. So when it is done, is she a free women or can she still get deployed and called for? Thanks.

  1. I will answer you questions in the order asked.

    1. Yes, she will go overseas with her unit when they are activated.

    2. Yes she can go to college. She may be called with her unit or individually for active duty, however. When not deployed or activated, after initial training, her drills are once a month and two weeks a year.

    3. She will only be "active duty" during BCT and AIT and during deployments.

4.For 8 years, she is deployable. After the 6 years she reports to her unit, then she doesn't have to report for the remaining 2 years, but may be called up.

  2. If you're concerned, ask her recruiter. Perhaps you could go in under a package deal so you can see why she's going.Expect nothing. Going into the service requires discipline and honor. If you're expecting anything you need to move on, she will.
