  1. actually, our only playing tests were only for marching band pass offs, final exams, and chair placements. and NOBODY on here can actually tell you how many flutes are in band.

out band has about 12 flutes, but there's another band around here that has only 5 flutes....so you see, if varies greatly between bands.

are you planning on doing marching band? if so, you will love it! unless you hate heat & have no commitment. lol

  2. LITTLE BIT HARDER

  3. When I did band in high school, they did a test where you played the music that they were going to play that year. There were as many flutes as people play. Probably too many!

I think band tended to be everyone playing really loud and not really listening terribly well. That's what I remember anyway.

    Good luck.

  4. everything about highschool sucks...just put your head down and wait for college

  5. not to discourage you but do not exeryt much effort during high school, just wait in your college years

  6. no idea but I know at my high school the band kids are the lowest of the low, idk about your school....but at my school, oh lord its a bad idea to be in band...

  7. I don't know why there are mean comments. :-/

Hmmm....I played the flute in my high school pep and marching band. My section had about 12 people or so, mostly girls.

Auditions are pretty nerve racking and no one wants to do horrible-especially the kids who are in first, second, and third chairs. Of course, the kid who is already in first chair wants to keep her spot...so she practices like crazy, as do the other two, hoping to get that first seat.

Wow, those band days seemed like ages ago!

  8. Depends on what kind of band you have in high school which you'll probably figure out in the first two weeks. Being in the band in high school was pretty cool I got to go to Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico it was like we had a trip every year so maybe you'll have that kind of band. Believe me if I would have known what would have happened in band and had a choice to try out for some kind of sport I'd rather stay with what I went through cause no sport will take you on trips to Puerto Rico..plus  in my school our band never really cared about band but somehow we were just naturally good enough to be better than a lot of high school. Just have fun in high school and don't regret nothing.

  9. It depends on the school--I went to a AAAAA school and the band director was Hitler reincarnate, no lie. Our tests were hard and there were many of us (we split into three bands instead of one big one) but because of his motivation to motivate us, we always kicked butt in all of the competitions. Practice--remember to play it slow the first time to get the fingerings right, then add your tempo later. It helps tremendously.
