  1. Generally not much. When you first land, you'll have to go through immigration. they will look at your documents ask how long you are staying, where you are staying that kind of thing. They will stamp your passport and your tourist card, I think they keep half the tourist card and give you the other half. The tourist card is just a simple form that the airline will hand out and that you can fill in during your flight down.

After that you will get you luggage, then you will head to customs. You'll stand in line with everyone else. When you get to the front of the line, one person in your party will push a button that randomly lights a sort of stop light. If the light turns green then you simply exit. If the light turns red then the officials will simply ask you to put your bags on a table and they have a quick look through them. No big deal either way.

  2. Mexican Customs can get excited at what dairy food and meat items you import so check out the list of prohibited items or better still don't bring any. Like all countries they want  to protect their agriculture Otherwise fill in the form on the plane and join the line up and hope for a green light otherwise you are a little delayed.

Have a great trip enjoy Cancun but like any City today you can find problems if you go looking for them .Stay to the main tourist areas enjoy the water and the beach and Mexican hospitality
