So there is this cat outside our house and he has a collar but it has no name on it, just bells. The poor thing sits outside the door, is very active and not afraid towards humans and he claws at our small tree like its a scratching post.

You can tell he is 100% a house cat. But the poor dear is lost! My mom says not to take him inside the house because he may have flees now but I have put water out for him but I don't know what to feed him or how to find his home! Please help this poor little cat, I feel so bad for him. I named his Twinkles because of the bells...but he just looks at me funny when I do. lol

  1. you can feed it chicken fish be boned and maybe meat all cooked tho and you can put up fliers and see if anyone claims it and if not take the cat to a no kill animal shelter

  2. cat food. tuna fish. meat, beef , poultry or pork. cooked, no seasonings.

if you feed him, he will not find his home, if he still has one. if he doesnt have a home anymore, he might starve.

call shelters, put ad in paper. see if any one claims him. make sure they describe the collar. so you know it is their cat.

and take the collar off. he cant catch mice with the bells ringing, the bells call the coyotes to dinner and he could hang himself on the collar.

  3. It's most likely from somewhere around the neighborhood though, someone might have had wanted to let em out for a bit and it ran away, or its a person who just got a cat and lets it out. Never know :O

But it's best to leave it be. If you feed twinkles he'll just keep coming back for more and more food. We used to have cats like that at my old house. Heck we have em here too. lol They seemed to make rounds at all the houses for food. xD

Cats also can forget their old owners easily if you do take it in and they don't see their old owner for a long period of time. Ask your mom to ask neighbors if they know anything about the cat if you're that worried.

  4. Whiskas or Meow Mix.

  5. If you feed him, he will essentially become your cat, especially if you don't find his real home.

If you don't have actual cat food in your house, canned albacore tuna or chicken breast are your best bets. Unless you plan to keep him. Then you will need to give him actual cat food.

Try taking a picture of him and making posters with your phone number on it. Take them to the humane society or local animal shelter and ask them to put them up in case the owner calls or goes there in hopes that someone has found their pet. You could also go around your neighborhood and ask people if they've lost a pet. Or, if you have a homeowner's association, ask the president for a list of phone numbers and call around.

It could be possible, however, that he was dropped off by someone who no longer wanted him. They see a large neighborhood and think the cat will surely find a home and woosh, they drive off. Happens a lot. That's how we ended up with two or our cats.

  6. Buy some dry cat food.  I would buy a little box since he may be found.

  7. Buy cat food. Purina cat chow is a good choice.  Complete and balanced for *most* stages of life.  If it's a kitten it should have kitten chow. I'm assuming it's not.

You don't have to take the cat into your home.  In my opinion it's irresponsible for people to let their cats roam.  This one is likely lost because he was an "indoor/outdoor" cat.  If you decide you want to take him, choose a place with no carpet where you can easily quarantine him for a short period of time.  A vet can advise you on what product would be best for eliminating and preventing fleas if you decide to keep the cat.

To find the cat's owner begin by paying attention to boards at supermarkets, community centers, and other public places where bulletins can be posted.  If he belongs to someone, chances are they're looking for him as well.  Some newspapers have a free "found pet/lost pet" section to help reunite families with their little lost companions.  Another option is to post your own flyers on public bulletin boards and also, send via e-mail to everyone you know the cat's information.  They in turn can forward it to other people in the area they know and the "six degrees of separation" pretty much guarantee that the owner will show up if he wants to be found.

If you're averse to having anything more to do with the cat, call the local animal shelter and ask them to come get him.  Hopefully it's a no kill shelter.  Adult cats don't get adopted often.

Oh, and if he's there any length of time, don't feed him an all meat diet.  Cats are obligate carnivores, but all meat diets drastically shorten their life expectancy and quality of life.

  8. tuna fish, not tinned salmon unless you take the bones out..

  9. You could put an ad in the newspaper to try to locate the owner. You could also take him to the SPCA they keep animals for a certain period of time to give the owner a chance to claim them, and if he is not claimed he could find a good home. In the mean time you could put cat food outside for him.

  10. I dont know where abouts you are from but if you live in the UK then you could take him to ther RSPCA and explain that you think hes lost and then they can check to see if he has a micro chip with an address. in the mean time though you could just buy in some cat food- either packet meaty chunks or a bag of dry food. you could bring him in your house though or just allow him into your hallway if you are worried about fleas although i wouldnt be worried if i were you

  11. please contact your local animal shelter let them know they can come pick it up and find it home

  12. Just completely ignore him, don't put food out for him i know this is hard to do but just think of the cat. If you do this then he will just want to stay around your home longer. He most likely knows where him home is but since you are feeding/loving him then he will never go home. Your mother is right, don't take the cat in the house other wise it will just start to think that your home is its home.

  13. Dont Give Him Normal Milk use Cat Milk.

    Tuna-Fish??
