What can I get as a gift for my friends mom who likes to sew?

She taught me how to sew and I want to give her something to say thanks :)

(Obviously not a new sewing machine as I only want to spend about $20, and I can't sew her something myself as I do not have a machine yet)

  1. You could put together a little basket of sewing supplies without spending much money.  There are cute little stick pins that have colored pearl tips, nice pin cushions, pretty buttons, retractable measuring tape, etc.

Another idea would be to find a pretty fabric and make her some cloth napkins.  It's really easy to do.  Just cut out squares and sew the ends under.  I make them all the time.  You can also make coordinating napkin rings by taking wide wired ribbon and hot gluing it into rings (ends tucked under, of course).

  2. There are these little scissors that look like a crane...the bill of the crane are the blades of the scissors.  The blades are perfect for cutting out a couple of stitches because they are so thin.  I think they go for about $15 at JoAnn's.  I like to sew and I wouldn't buy them for myself because they seem like a luxury item for me but I sure would like a pair so I bet she would too.

  3. I think it's a really nice idea to give your friends mom a gift! Maybe you could give her some pretty fabrics so she can use for sewing, or better yet, buy some fabrics and sew something for her showing her that she taught you well, maybe like a pillow or something. This way she will feel helpful but she will also have a nice gift as a remembrance of how well she taught you!! Good Luck!!!

  4. A gift card to a craft store so she can pick out either some supplies or a craft kit she'd like to make ! That is so sweet that you want to get her a gift !

  5. a gift card from a local fabric store. That way she can choose what she needs be it fabric patterns accesories or whatever she else she may need

  6. Why don't you get a cute little box and fill it full of ribbons and buttons and cottons etc.  I did that for my Mum once and she just loved it.  You can spend as much or as little as you like.

  7. Look on eBay under sewing for ideas.  You might find something old that would make a nice gift and fit her interests.

  8. If there is any item for sewing she has that could use replacing, you could get it for her.

Give her a gift card to a local fabric shop.

When in doubt, a beautiful bouquet of flowers is always welcome.

  9. Pattern book or some fabric material.

  10. There are plenty of books you can buy that have patterns and instructions for easy to sew at home projects. A gift certificate to the fabric store is good too!

  11. You could go to a fabric store and buy her a few fabric quilt squares. She can mix them with fabrics that she already has to make something.

  12. There are specialty quilting needles ( they each have a different # to identify them by, embroidery or thread scissors,  unique chalk markers, measuring tapes, and different magnifiers set in an ornate setting (and hangs on a chain around your neck). I bought these items for my aunt who loves to sew and quilt.

  13. A couple of yards of material that are really nice, tied with some cords from the fabric shop to match the material.
