I have the same problem, it's my brother's 21st on Saturday and he doesn't really have interests, except heavy metal music and his computer, but these things are too expensive. Luckily, he's asked me to just buy him alcohol for his "small get-together!" If he hadn't, it would just be something quirky from somewhere like "IWantOneOfThose.com"

I just wish he liked reading or sports!!

You haven't mentioned your budget, if it's quite large, you could get him one of those day experience things (they do off road driving, etc). If all else fails, go with a t-shirt or socks, the socks never fail, it's become like a joke between me and my grandad recently!!
