  1. The best Tapas.

  2. a matador's hat or even some maracas.

  3. "Maracas"??? Definitely not, you get those in Latin America not Spain...

Spain is well known for its fans. hand painted or plain, you can find them in every town, especially in the south where it is warm, and they are used all summer... They run anywhere from 3 euros in open air markets, to hundreds of euros for the handpainted designer ones in "El Corte Inglés" department stores. Don't buy the sandalwood ones, they are from China!

Evidently things to do with bullfights are also very spanish (tho' you can find some things similar in latin America). "El Toro" de Osborne...is a landmark (originally an advert for a reknowned brand of brandy and wines) it is now found on postcards, teeshirts and even in figures you can find almost everywhere...

As to food....Serrano ham, from the south, fuet sausage from the northeast, and Chorizo sausage from several regions, (not similar to the mexican ones).(Unfortunately you risk taking those back to the States with you that they might be confiscated on arrival at the airport when you return). "Tapas" all over the country...especially in Granada. Paella in Valencia, Gazpacho and "pescadito frito" in Andalusia, Fabada in Asturias, and lots of etc's. Play it by ear! You are bound to find something to suit your fancy (If you like ice cream...try "Leche Merengada" it is a meringue-cinnamon flavoured delight!)

    Ohh

P.S. Castañuelas (Castagnets) are a typical spanish musical instrument... And spanish guitars are known for their beauty, if you find an artisans shop where they are made in front of you you are even luckier!

  4. You can get unique t shirts, for example I have  green onewith a very cool design and lettering that says "Asturias". They have these for different areas and cities.

Also in Asturias you can get miniatures of the unique barns there and also mini statue of guy pouring "arujo" .

In Cordoba I got a decorative leather glasses case.  I have never seen anything like it anywhere else.

  5. "a matador's hat or even some maracas."

You're wrong. You can get this in France if you go in  the Feria of Nïmes or Dax for example.

  6. Fuet!!!  Oh my god, this heavenly pepperoni like meat can only be found there.  Once you try a piece you become addicted.  I have tried looking for Fuet in the states but cannot find any.  As a matter of fact if you go could you bring me some?  lol.

    Fuet

    [From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia]

Fuet is a Catalan thin, cured dry sausage of pork meat in a pork gut. The most famous is made in the comarca (county) of Osona and is also known as Vic fuet (fuet de Vic, after the city of Vic, capital of Osona).

  7. Spanish flu

  8. there are a few things that you can get in spain that are pretty unique to spain.  when i went i got one of those hand painted clocks that they have.  they are a lot differnet than anything you can find in the states.  also, spanish leather is always a big one.  and, if you like this kind of thing, the swords are a big one!  but you'd have to be willing to spend quite a big of money.  hope this helps!
