Question:

What can I go about credit card fees?

I had a credit card linked to EZPass and it automatically charged my card, causing it to go over the limit by 30 dollars. My CC co then tacked on a late fee, over the limit fee, and jacked my minimum payment up to 350 dollars. I wasn't able to pay that large of an amount and they are continuing to add on fees and increasing my minimum payments

  1. get a second job on the farm. since your min. is 350, then how much is your limit?????????????

  2. 1.  Contact your credit card company.

    2.  Ask if they can make any adjustments as you cannot afford to pay what they are asking.

It is in their best interest to work with you.  Just be honest.  It is true that they are more likely to work with you when your payment history is clean, however, the fees, interest, etc. will continue to mount and eventually they will lose out if you file bankruptcy.

SO . . .  contact them and ask for an adjustment.  You may need to speak to a manager as usually the first person to speak with will not be able to make that adjustment.  Just be honest and be consistent on your payments because as soon as you miss a payment, you will be back where you started.

Also, don't max out your credit cards.  I know times are tough, we are all feeling the pinch, but be sure to cut back on items that are not necessities.  I don't know what EZPass is, but if it isn't an absolute necessity and seems like it is an auto pay on your credit card, cancel it if possible so you don't have another surprise over limit fee.

The best thing to do is stay on top of your bills and contact the company as soon as the problem arises, don't put it off.
