I am considering having a vegetable patch in the garden, and I was wondering what would be the best things I can grow for this time of the year in the United Kingdom?

Root crops that don't take that long, like carrots, radishes, beets, brocolli, mabye some green beans, put in a small asaparagus patch maybe for next year. even some leaf lettuce, that harvests quickly. Parsely, but try to find a plant.
