What can I major in so I can travel?

Hey everyone. One of my top goals in life is to travel. What should I major in to do so? I'm only really interested in natural resources, especially wildlife. I don't necessarily need a good wage if I get the chance to travel for a job, in fact, I'd be happy with just getting by on surviving wage, it means that much to me. I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks!

  1. Non profit orgnisations are always looking for volunteers, and many pay a minimum wage or supply you with meals and accomodation in lieu of a wage. A degree in Education will get you travelling to many different countries though. It all depends on what you really want to do. This is what I have done.

Pick an area u want to work in. (meaning are u good with kids? are u s solitary worker? This will define what area, right?)

Pick a country. (will Africa be too hot/depressing/backward for you?)

Google it. (type in Surveyer Africa/ Teacher Japan/ Photographer Colombia (ok maybe not that one it might get u in trouble))

It can really be as simple as that. From there you can pick which ones you want.

BTW learning the language is always good.

    Have fun!!!

  2. Pretty much any job can lead to travel if you play it right.  I'm getting a PhD in physics - and I've taken three (paid!) trips out of the country this year alone, with two more planned by December.

  4. You could consider majoring in travel and tourism with a minor in Environmental Science.  My friend did that and she is now a tour guide in Skagway, Alaska and working as a natural resource water conservationist.  They send her on research assignment all over.  She just recently got back from Australia.  They've sent her to Canada, Fiji, Panama and a few other places as well and she absolutely loves her jobs!

Eri is also correct, just about any job/career that you choose has the potential for travel experiences.  My uncle worked for IBM for 20+ years and developed all kinds of new software and programs and the company paid to send him all over the world to show clients/buyers what the software was, how to use it, and how it could benefit their businesses.  They sent him to Las Vegas, Los Angelas, New York, Boston and many places within the U.S. as well as Germany, Spain, France, Finland, Australia... gosh, I can't even remember where all he's been!
