  1. In the Philippines, we boil the mung beans until they burst. We add it to sauteed garlic, onion, tomato, boiled pork, smoked fish and salted shrimp paste. Just before serving, we add the young leaves of bitter melon or malunggay.

    Very healthy.

    Without the leaves, the soup tastes almost like split pea soup with smoked ham hocks.


  2. You can make a Cantonese dessert called 綠豆湯 (sweet mung bean soup). The recipe can be found on at http://www.eatingchina.com/recipes/mung-... It's really simple to make, but to make it taste better, you can also add pandang leaves (screwpine), kelp (a type of seaweed), orange peel and use palm sugar instead of normal refined sugar.
