Every time I try to open a file .wmv this message pops:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

It has been happening lately, I never had this problem before...

PLEASE help!!

  1. Lots of people here seem to keep pushing vlc, but it doesn't play .rm files.

Media player classic is the one you want, it comes with all the codecs you'll ever need and the mouse wheel changes volume.

Beautifully simple (a bit like me :)

try it, no, try both then make your own mind up.

btw, all codecs are freeware and you should NEVER pay for them.

  2. Well try opening files which worked and check if the error still happens. If it happens then I don't know whats wrong but if it doesnt then you need to download plug-ins for your Media Player. (DivX etc.)

  3. I previous had this problem too.

I checked around and managed to solve it.

    This is what i did.

I went to Windows Media Player first.

Next, i did a Right-click on "Library" and click on "More Options...".

Under the "Player" tab, tick the check-box "Download codecs automatically" and apply and you're done.

    Good Luck

  4. Simple : )

All you need to do is install this little video player

Open your video with this program, it opens almost all video types

    : ) hope that helps!
