Does anyone have any suggestions on what to put in a gift bag for our guests that are staying in a hotel? We appreciate these people forking over the money to travel and stay in a hotel for our wedding. A few small items would be good. I don't want to spend anymore than $10 or $20. The wedding is in Chicago. Thanks!

  2. snack food and drinks,, lotions, candy, gift card to breakfast

  3. wow! that's really nice of you. umm maybe some snacks for the hotel so they don't have to hit the minibar? some water, cans of pop (if you know what kind, or just go with coke or pepsi, most people will drink those).  Maybe you can get a gift pass for a local attraction they might want to go to?

    Good luck and congrats!

whoops I had one more idea. Go to the local chamber of commerce (there must be one somewhere) and get a map that has all the local attractions highlighted. maybe some brochures of those places.

oh another idea: lol. is there a restaraunt attached to the hotel? could you get a gift card or something so they can grab an appatizer to eat in their room at some point? Like after the reception or maybe the next day if they are staying for a while?  If you don't have TOO many people int he hotels try and eprsonalize it a bit based on the individual person or situation they are in

Oh if there is someone who's never been to Chicago before what about a little chicago souvenir...keychain? shot glass? something small though.

  4. food, snacks, bottled water.

Anything they'd find in the hotel mini-bar

  5. Good instant coffee and snacks

  6. I'm in Chicago as well (getting married in NY, though) and we were originally going to go Chicago-themed welcome baskets for guests, But ended up nixing it and doing the NY theme instead (Chicago-themed, tabled, though!).

Do some Garett's popcorn bags. If you contact corporate headquarters, they'll give you a wedding favor price list. There was a mini bag on there for $2. So reasonable, and so tasty! Also, you could go to Nuts on Clark and see if they have mini bags of nuts or something, and then make sure they put the "Nuts on Clark" sticker on them:)

Lush soaps are expensive, but I'm sure if you want in there and said you were doing wedding welcome baskets, and just wanted small slices for each one, they could work with you and yoru price range.

Other than that, just include maps of the area, bottles of water, maybe some CTA pre-paid cards for people, circle your favorite places to go in some cheap tour-guides (which you can probably get for free if you do a little research).

  7. i would love some bottled water and a couple of snacks.  with a cute note from you in the bag welcoming me.  that is perfect

  8. Sachets of cocoa, packets of tissue, chapstick, water, small boxes of chocolate http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

  9. Check out the "trial size" aisle at Wal-Mart or your local drugstore.  People who are travelling often forget things and you can make up a little bag of some essentials in case they forget something.  Not soap or shampoo, the hotel will have that.  Things like a toothbrush, deodorant, baby powder, hand lotion, a hair comb, a map of the area, a little pack of breath mints, etc.  If they are coming from far away, you could put in some of those super stretchy gloves or a hand warmer.  And maybe some little pin or souveneir of Chicago as a memento?  Just some little stuff like that can be nice and make them feel like you have really cared enough to think about their well-being and happiness.

  10. You can put any number of things in the bags to make your guests more comfortable.  Try things like bottled water and small snack bags (pretzels, cookies, etc), maybe tylenol or aspirin just in case, a map of the area with a few things to do (restaurants, tourist destinations), maybe the contact information for a few transportation companies.

  11. a couple bottles of water.. maybe some advil just in case.... some snacks and i guess thats it.

  12. We did welcome baskets as well. We basically got them a lot of snack foods, water, etc. because it is so expensive to go buy snacks in the lobby of the hotel. We got them some chips, candy, crackers, bottled water, tea, instant coffee, etc. We also provided them with maps, directions and travel guides (usually you can get them for free at AAA). Maybe you could get them a deck of cards and if they have kids some crayons & a coloring book.
