I usually give him a sandwich, a cheese string, a piece of fruit and maybe a cereal bar or a biscuit.

He never eats a whole sandwich. I just don't know what to give him as he is a rather fussy eater.

Any ideas will be very appreciated !

  1. Give him leftovers of things that he eats for dinner. If he likes it at 5m he'll like it at noon!

  2. A yoghurt in a tube thingy,

    a baby bell

    packet of crisps

    a banana

    bread and butter.

  3. Pasta salad, Crackers, Carrot sticks, Rice pudding, Grapes in a pot, Pitta bread, milk biscuits (low sugar), yoghurt, cucumber slices/batons, mini sausages, sausage rolls, cheese/onion rolls, rice cakes......

  4. I usually put in two soft, filled rolls and some fruit or yoghurt. I try to give them something different in their rolls every day to make it interesting.

If they have sandwiches they tend to leave some but they enjoy rolls and usually finish what I've given them♥.

  5. This may sound really crazy but my girls love Lunchables. They dont eat everything unless it's a lunchable, they are fun and they get to make it the way they want to. They are pretty healthy. YoGos are a great snack to put in there too.

  6. We are talking about children here, and they cant eat too much sugary stuff, so try putting in sandwiches with different fillings, so different every day, although this will take up your time, but this is a child. Children like colour in their life, so buy your child a colourful lunch box, to make it stand out. Try to set a good example to your child, so... show your child what your having for lunch, and they may as well copy you, they tend to, because my sister still does, and she is 10,    4 years difference. I hope this helped in some way!!!

  7. How about a wrap?

    a piece of fruit,

ONE sugary snack, OF HIS CHOICE ( ie . frootroll up)

    & juice box?

  8. How about a little pot of either rice or pasta salad instead of the bread?

  9. Lunchables

    Crustables

Fruit snacks...Like Scoobydoo or fruit roll ups

    Individual sized chips

They have cookies of all different kinds that come like 4 or six in a pack by I think it is Nabisco

    pudding

    jello

    yogert

  10. Have you tried giving him the healthy alternative?

Salad, Soup 2- go's, granolla bars?

  11. Here's a few ideas:

Apple wraps:  chunky or plain peanut butter, add banana and smash, spread of a tortilla (white or wheat), sprinkle cut up apples and roll up.

Kabobs, i.e. pineapple, ham, cheese (cubed)

    Hard boiled eggs

    Yogurt, like the reduced activia

    Low sugar cereal

They have these carrots that are called sweet baby supreme, my son likes these the best, smaller and sweeter, can always include some low cal. dip

    Any of the fruits

    Apples with peanut butter

    Meatloaf sandwich

Boneless chicken wings, they're even good cold

    Cottage cheese

Wheat crackers, cheese and some salami

Any fresh veggies he may eat if you add some dip

Adding bacon to a sandwich changes it up a bit

Salads with kid friendly things like strawberries, Mandarin oranges, cheese, goldfish, etc.

For desserts you could include some of the low cal. snack options out there for chips (can always add some salsa), some of the newer (and tastier) rice cakes, there are recipes for brownies with beans in them (they really do taste good and give some protein), fruit and dip, rice krispie bars, popcorn, dried fruits, homemade trail mixes, etc.

I have a similar kid at home. I really liked the soup in the thermos ideas too!  There are some good kids cookbooks out there that you may find some new ways to spice up the same old, same old.

    Best of luck!

  12. What about a chicken wrap cheap, healthy and light.  Sausage rolls, mini pasty, bacon bite, scotch egg, tortilla (spanish).  Have you perhaps asked him to choose an option.

  13. u should give him this: a half of sandwich, his FAVORITE FRIUT, a juicebox, and a little sandwich bag with potato chips

  14. PB&J is a classic. Just put in half and save the other half for the next day. Fruit and a drink is also standard.

  15. fruit, cut into pieces, a packet of no junk crisps (supermarkets sell them) small yougert and spoon! small packet of raisens, simple jam sandwich, and 1 biscuit, and a fresh juice carton.

  16. My daughter has packed lunch 4 days a week, with hot lunch on a friday.

I always am careful to mix up her food so she gets a wide variety of foods throughout the week.

    I use:

Wholemeal pitta bread, with tuna, ham etc filling.

I also make homemade pizzas using pitta bread and give this to her cold the next day.

fruit salad - strawberries, blueberries, grapes, kiwi to make a bright colourful salad

carrot, celery, cucumber sticks with a separate dip

fruit flakes, which are bits of fruit with a sweet topping, find them in tesco or asda

dairylea lunchables as an occasional treat - the child then can build their own sandwich.

    yoghurts

    cheese shapes

sausage rolls, mini pork pies, picnic eggs, quiche

box drink of apple juice, orange juice, pinapple juice

    crisps or popcorn as treat

    flapjacks or fruity cereal bar

just a few ideas! My kids love having a packed lunch. I find they enjoy preparing it the night before, you can then take your time and ask them what they want - less stressful that way.

  17. Sandwich is fine. Don't give the same sandwich every day, or it gets boring.

Try adding some fruit as well, like an apple, banana, orange, pear, Lunch Box Fruit Cups.

    Chewy Granola Bars are good.

It doesn't hurt to add a little excitement to the lunch box with Lunch Box Chips, M&M's, Lunch Box Puddings, Cookies, Cup Cakes, Twinkies.

  18. most children dont like sandwiches. the stuff you have given him already seems normal and healthy :) maybe yoghurts aswell? i find them so yummy and my niece and nephews love them aswell x

  19. i would say give him something that you know loves enough that he will eat it all with no problem

  20. I have the same circumstances with my 5 year old. We decide on her lunch the night before, so in the morning I already know what to pack for her.  You might try this with your son, and even if he only wants 10 slices of pepperoni and an apple sauce cup, just remember, it's not what a kid eats everyday, but over the course of the month to look at.  Sometimes my daughter only wants a can of corn in her lunch.  Given the opportunity, kids will eat healthy foods because their bodies demand it.  See what your son wants for lunch, then you can always put in MORE than he asks for, things like apple sauce cups, pudding cups, cereal bars and such and be repacked the next day as a "just in case."  Canned ravioli and stuff like that doesn't have to be kept cold, and most places have microwaves that a teacher will use for him if he wants something heated up.  Sometimes, I think if it weren't for Dora the Explorer spaghettios, my child would starve.

  21. my brothers and sisters love pita wraps, you can get whole grain ones spinich ones, they are really good, I put turkey honeymustard and cucumbers in one, and turkey lettuce cucumber and mustard in the other two..

you can put peanut butter crackers, fruit cups, granola bars, (not the chewy kind they are terrible for you!)  try natures own.  you can do carrot sticks and ranch, ants on a log(celery and peanut butter with little rasins on top too cute~)

  22. try a half sanwhich and maybe a cut up apple?

  23. I'll give you some ideas see what you think.

Dairylea dunkables ( cheese, ham and little crackers)

salad eg lettuce, tomato, spring onion, egg

pasta (you can add anything he likes to it)

Sausage roll instead of a sandwhich for a change

Queche (you can get mini ones)

    I hope this helps.

  24. how about filled pittas?

  25. Lunchables... lots of variety without having to do a sandwich every single day.

    Peanut butter (and jelly?) crackers

Jello or pudding (you can get them premade in the little cups)

Soup (in a thermos) - It's still warm at lunch.

  26. I make my daughter wraps. Use whole wheat tortillas with salami and cheese and cucumber. You can put anything you like on it. I sneak spinach in it once in a while. She usually only eats half of it so I just keep the other half for myself. On other days she likes peanut butter on crackers instead.

With that I include carrots or an apple. Some yogurt and pretzel sticks.

I stay away from packaged stuff like Lunchables and microwave soups...too much sodium.

  27. Try "ants on a log"  celery sticks with peanut butter with raisins as the "ants"

  28. Take him to the store with you, and let him help pick out his lunch-- healthy lunch-- a cereal bar and a biscuit-- I'd be fussy also.

  29. Quick sandwich ideas:

-tuna (with grated onion) mayo and mustard

-chicken paste: that's boiled chicken breast shredded with onion and carrot may and mustard

-cheesepaste: grated cheese mixed with grated carrot, mayo and mustard

    -ham and cheese with butter

-Peanut butter with honey or jam

always use brown or multigrain bread

Tip: Leave out the cheese string and cereal bar and just give fruit and he might get hungry enough to finish his sandwich...

This has worked for my kid

  30. Soup, mac N cheese in a thermos, ravioli..I have put a hot dog and a bun in a thermos

I got great advice once in the kids lunch department and i pass it on every chance I get.

Make 10 sandwiches (my sons wants PB&J everyday so this is super easy for me) cut them in half, put them in indivual baggies and freeze them.  When making your childs lunch all you have to do now is grab a frozen sandwich and put it in his lunchbox with the rest of the stuff and it will be dethawed by the time he eats his lunch.  That way you only have to make sandwiches once every 20 days, instead of once a day.  I have been doing this for years....I LOVE IT.

    This works with Pizza too

    Good luck

  31. instead of a sandwich, what about a slice of cheesy quiche or some cold tuna pasta,a sausage roll, slice of pizza,or for a healthier option what about a fruit salad with yogurt and some snak a jaks
