What can I replace Vanilla extract with?

I'm making chocolate chip cookies and I don't have vanilla extract with me. The recipe calls for 1/2 tsp. Is it really important to put it in? The recipe also calls for 1/4 cup of soy milk powder. Will milk just do it because I'm sure I don't have soy milk powder.

  1. use cow milk and just leave out vanilla

  2. Well to replace the soy milk powder with milk you need to look on the recipe and see if it include water with the spy milk powder? If so then omit the water and powder and just add reg milk.

As far as the vanilla you can leave it out and you most likely will never know. But almond is decent replacer just use 1/4 tsp instead of the 1/2 as almond extract can be a little stonger in flavor. If you have a butter rum, root beer and any other flavor as well you can add it. Or a min extract would be good with the choc chip cookies.

  3. You should be able to replace the milk just fine but vanilla just adds excellent flavour. Might taste a little off without it. If you have almond extract that would work just a different flavour.

  4. You can definitely leave the vanilla out although the flavor will change somewhat.

The thing about the soy milk powder is that it is a dry ingredient.

I would suggest you leave out the soy milk powder and replace the LIQUID ingredient with milk.
