As for food, I would say corn on the cob, coleslaw, and ribs.

As for drink, I think a flavorful German pilsner (Radeberger, Bitburger, Warsteiner) would pair well. If you're more adventurous, perhaps a Sam Adams Double Bock or even an Old Rasputin Imperial Russian Stout.

ribs or pulled pork sandwices are good if you are a BBQ'r; or just plain old hamburgers and hotdogs. coleslaw, potato salad or corn-on-the-cob are good sides to go with it.
