I heard that I have a lot of options. But, can I go for medicine and actually become a doctor? Or law and actually become a lawyer?

  1. Without a science background you would have trouble going into a medical education. Law is certainly a possibility as are management and journalism. Also, you could do graduage work in English.

    Good luck.

  2. You can do what you want to do, however the doctor option is going to require that you go back and do pre-med undergraduate work- See it is a funny dilemma... If you finish college and decide that you want to into the scientific world then you have to pay the ticket yourself. If you want to go into the business world it is an easier path and more, "provided" for in financial aid. I.E. "loans" after your undergraduate degree your pretty much stuck with, 1. your own resources 2. Loans 3. Scholarships

    I just wonder why more is not done in this country's education system to explore what an individual wants out of life. I know this becomes a personal journey however the costs both personally and socially I think are worth it. Society benefits from this as well, I just think the public education system should be doing a bit more then it does.

    And they, "The established education system" condemn home schooling... the pot calls the kettle black. :)

  3. You can go to med school if you complete the prerequisite courses first.  Here they are (one year = two classes):

        *   A year of Freshman Chemistry along with the appropriate laboratory courses

        * A year of Organic Chemistry along with laboratory courses

        * A year of Biology along with laboratory courses

        * A year of Physics along with laboratory courses

        * A year of English

        * A year of Calculus or other advanced math classes, including Statistics

    You will also need to take the MCAT.

    You can go to law school (you will have to take the LSAT first).

    You can get your MBA.

    You can continue studying English.

    There are probably a lot of other things too..

    Good luck!
