  1. depends upon the recipe and how much you're using, but to be wholly honest, I don't think it makes that much of a difference.

Sugar is sugar and the amount you'll be eating per serving won't contribute that much to your health... no matter what you use.

  2. Honey or Splenda (nutritionists LOVE Splenda, just read Nutrition Action and they will suggest using it all the time)

  3. That depends on the recipe. Sugars other than refined white will lend coloration to the finished dish.

For most sweet breads and most cakes, color won't make much difference.

You might want to try raw (unrefined) sugar but be aware that it is more expensive than the processed stuff.

Honey may also be a viable alternative but it is expensive also.

I suggest that you avoid sugar substitutes, especially chemicals such as aspartame and so-called "real" sugar substitutes..I think Splenda is one of those.

substitutes and chemicals break down when heated and form some ugly compounds.

  4. Splenda that you measure the same as sugar

    or brown sugar

  5. use raw sugar.  it's found in grocery stores by the white sugar and you can exchange it for equal measures.  It tastes great without changing the consistency of your recipes.

  6. either one

  7. honey is the best but if you want to taste more like sugar its beta to use brown sugar
