What can I substitute fast food with?!?!?

I am 19 years old and I am really unfit, Thank God I still look fit but I know I am not. I am a dispatcher for the Greater Los Angeles area, so I am always sitting down and working. I always tend to get Jack in the Box or Mc D's because its the only thing near my work. I don't have time to usually prepare food because, I'm living; the nightlife as if right now. So yeah what should I do? I dont have time for the gym because I work from 13:30 - 2200? HELP!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Get a salad from McDonalds grilled chicken not crispy if you get chicken at all and a light salad dressing.  Stay the h**l away from Jack in the Box that place is nasty.   And you could find an all night gym, they're all over the place, to go workout after work or whenever you have time.   You can also start to walk to places instead of driving so much or ride a bike.   And, no I'm not trying to joke around, have s*x.   s*x is an awesome workout and a great stress reliever.


  2. Do you have a microwave or a way of reheating your own meals? If you do, bring your lunch.  You can be aware of what you are putting in your body, plus know what your calorie count and fat intake are.  Sounds boring, but I swear once you start looking at labels, you will want to know what you are putting in your body.  I am not a "gym" person, just someone who likes to know what i'm eating.

  5. I agree with the third person.  I always go to the yellow book "Eat this, not that."  You could also pack peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, which doesn't need refrigeration.

  6. You seem to have some time in the morning, so prepare yourself a fresh sandwich full of vegetables or something.

  7.     With a great grilled cheese sandwich!!!!  Melt some butter in a pan, swish around a couple of slices of sourdough, or German rye bread, flip 'em, add a little more butter, push the bread around until it's grilled, flip it again, put some older Havartii on both slices, add some fresh basil and a couple of slices of avocado (when the cheese starts to melt), salt & pepper, assemble the sandwich halves in the pan, mash down with a spatula, plate it, and cut it, diagonally.   Sounds great huh?

  8. Get real there has to be a grocery store with in feet of those jacknthe boxes and even Micckey D's you cant be more than five miles from

    a mom and pops a walmart superstore or a local food chain like

    winn dixie, ann page A&P. safeway,Luckys,Vons,albertsons,safeway,

    krogers, Victory stores where you can get fresh fruits,veggies or preprepared foods in easy to eat containers even keep a cooler in this day age like my uncle did in his back seat in the early sixties full of beer on ice just you would then have fresh cold fruit juices like orange

    and grape or apple juice with no added sugar and some yogurts or maybe gogurts, And lastly if you find the time to take bathroom breaks

    you can find the time to exercise and eating right and living with

    a quick jump in a apt pool or a few minutes running in the parking lot

    chasing a ball no matter your choice if it was extremely important

    that you knew you had six months to live due to a bad heart

    disease build up of cholesterol dueto all those bad fast foods you seem to find to eat and bypass all the sources of fresh fruits and

    great tasting variety of fruits and veggies no to mention all the

    other meats and seeds and nuts and deli items your not eating in fast food your not living but dieing from your own ignorance and missing out out on what makes life worth living living fresh sweet fruits and veggies that will save your bones and muscles from premature ageing.

    Get real with your body and feel alive eating alive foods not that fat filled

    dead matter those so called fast food units sell. Ever hear of a local

    town country market we have one every thursday downtown

    and the town next to us has there saturday morning one every saturday

    So If I being in a wheel chair and disabled from a car accident and a bad drunk driver that hit me causing my chair use can find fresh fruits and veggies and help my local farmrs make a buck to grow such beautiful lustious fruits nuts and meats I know you can at 19 find a healthier food souce for very few grocery stores are farther from

    the locals population centers than a five mile radius of the middle of

    town. The generation now are so use too having food available and they cant get out their own car to enjoy a life filled with more life.

    There is a whole lotta quit in this last three generations of people

    since the Vietnam era. They dont allow themselves to live on the bounty of good food there is all over this great country.

    Our generation will go out to farmers markets and orchards and pick our own fresh to have the taste of a fresh peach or plum

    or even a orange or ear of corn. We had moms that canned and made

    cakes. Live dude on live foods and stop making excuses cause I

    know if the grocery store had strippers yoube there buying and exercising next door before going in after you left working double shifts and spent five hours in a rave. Wake up and stop whining you got to much quit in you.

  13. the thing is yes you can either pack a lunch or choose a healthier place like subway. but despite what many people believe, not EVERYTHING is super unhealthy at fast food. seriously, dont get fast food every single day but when you get it, choose something healthy like a salad or something. what im sayin is when u go to Mcdonalds dont order a bigmac, fries, and a coke.

  14. get salads instead..  but avoid toppings like chicken or asian salad, just get a side salad or two, the apple dippers, and the Hi-C or powerade, tea sweet or unsweet or water. that should help take down the calories

  15. haha most people are like that. they know fast food is bad for ya but they just have no choice.. What can you say about this free country when there are little choice in your life. If there are so many choice why aren't there any more restaurant near your work? Freedom to choose? bullshit...so free you only get to choose from 2 fastfood rest. like you have to choose from two crappy presidential candidates. HOME OF THE FREE YAY!!

  17. If you're really serious about it you'll make the time to pack a decent lunch.  It really only takes a few minutes extra a week when you're shopping and maybe 5-10 minutes a day to pack a lunch.  Just a matter of getting into good habits.

  18. Just heard on the news the other night of a diet that was supposed to not only help people lose weight but keeps cholesterol/sodium and other bad things down. They were interviewing some doctor from a prestigious med school.

    You fast for one day then you can eat like a pig the next day if you want to. Lol it sounds tough but it's supposed to keep you from being unhealthy/fat.

    But to be healthy in a cardiovascular sense, you need excersize. try going out for a run after work

  19. 7-11, ABC Stores, Has sandwiches, and other misc meals. Get a tuna or egg sandwich with some low fat chips and a bottle of apple juice.

    Your best option, less costly, and healthy as well:

    Consider going to the grocery store on your day off. If your REALLY LAZY, then go to the frozen food section and pick you up some healthy MICROWAVE MEALS that will only take a few minutes to heat up before you head off to work.

    If your not as lazy, you could cook a small portion of meals your day off and either freeze or refridgerate your meals. They should last for a few days.

    If you really want to eat healthy consider buying fruits and non-fat snacks in between meals.

    You can also wake up one hour early before work and prepare a meal.  

  20. subways is good, or if you only have time for fastfood you can get their salads but if it is a chicken salad (or even a chicken sandwich) grilled is healthier than fried

Well this is what I do because I have a crazy schedule as well I go to the store buy different types of meat(chicken, beef, and turkey) including lunch meat and prepare my own meals like beef or chicken burrito's, sandwhiches and chips just be creative and you'll notice it also will save you ALOT of money. As far as working out you can spend 15-30 minutes everyday or every other day running and it doesnt have to be at a track you can run in place at home, run back and forth within your home, or run around a block and within a week you'll notice a difference

  23. Try getting fast microwavable foods the next time you go shopping. Try soybeans that are microwavable. Just pop them in and set it too 3 minutes. You could always exercise even though you have no time. Try walking to food places or drink lots of water to fill up your stomach. :)
