  1. not exactly otc but...

    smoke a blunt.

  2. Possibly have a ciggarette. Or, when you're having it done. Get a stress ball so it'll take the pain away and it'll keep you occupied.

  3. Try:taking a z-bar,smoking something, and last but not least busting a nut!!!You will be super-relaxed after you do this.

  4. there is nothing you can take that will relax you for the most part it all will intisify the experince the best thing for you to  do is just relax mentally and enjoy good conversation with your artist and try your best to focus on breathing it will help your relax and just think about what beautiful piece of art you will have on your body when its all over trust me its worth it

  5. benedryl, tylenol pm, any pain relieving / drowsy medicine may help.

  6. I don't think there is anything over the counter to help you relax.  I have three tattoos, so I can feel your fear of going back to have one finished.

  7. my boyfriend's mum has high blood pressure and has this little bottle of spray that you spray under your tongue, believe me that calms you down!

maybe find a relative with one of these?

non-drowsy traveling pills might help to! (get the drowsy ones because you don't want to be dopey and falling asleep!)

    good luck! x

  8. Do NOT take any blood thinners (aspiring-containing drugs), these can result in loss of blood and slower healing times. Please also don't take any drugs that are not prescribed to you or your aren't familiar with; you could be unable to get the tattoo due to the effects of the drug or worse, you could have an allergic reaction.

Depending on how large of a tattoo you are planning to get and the speed of the artist, after about 15-20 minutes of tattooing, your body's natural painkillers - endorphins - start to kick in. Endorphins are stronger than opiates (i.e. morphine) and should help mitigate the pain.

Try some meditation exercises before you get tattooed that help you focus on breathing. You'll find that breathing, along with good hydration and eating a light meal before the tattoo, will be your best allies. You can always ask your artist for a little break if you are feeling lightheaded; they prefer this to you passing out.

Think of the tattooing experience as something enjoyable and not as something you have to "get through" to have a cool tattoo. Many people find that they actually like the experience.
