Im using a 4 gauge car amp power wire that will be going through a firewall using a 1/2 hole size rubber grommet that leads to the car battery. The grommet still has room for water to leak through after I route the wire through. What material can I use to seal the remaining room so I wont have leakage in the interior of the car? Thanks

  1. RTV Silicone

  2. If you look hard enough for car audio supplies, they actually make special grommets to do just what you're trying to do. It will be a little harder to use that silocone but it's worth it quality wise, and it looks better too. Siliocone will work, but it's also likely to fail in a little while. I would call it more of a temporary fix. Here are a few places just for starters:

  3. There's a product we installers use called dumdum, or strip caulk.
