I want to buy the shoulder pads before the scrum cap so I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions as to what I may use to protect my EARS (ouch!) when I'm in the scrum. Thanks a million

  1. You can use rugby tape which will be available @ all sports outlets but remember to have padding first before you use the tape. Tip- Don't put it close to your eyebrows as your field vision will decrease.

  2. Good old Electric tape! Well use strapping tape first, and then put the electric tape over it.

To tell you the truth though, don't use anything man! Nothing as pretty as cauliflower ears...

  3. Strapping tape (2" wide). A tip for you - first time around your head, place the tape with the sticky side facing out, stick it onto itself on the first time around, then reverse the direction & go once around your head again. Then put electrical tape over the top to hold it firmly in place. Not too tightly or you'll get a headache!!! Hope that makes sense......

Another option is to not use tape at all, just smear your ears with vaseline (petroleum jelly, don't know what you lot call it in the USA).

Personally, I never used anything but that's personal choice; I have two cauliflower ears after 30 yrs of playing ;-))
