What can I use my student loans for?

Other than paying for classes & books, what else am I allowed to use the money for? I got aproved for $10,000 and my cost for school will be less than $2,000. It said you shouldn't use it for stuff other than is necessary for school but I have a lot of bills that I wouldn't mind using that money for..can I? I have a credit card for over $2,000 can I use some of the loan money to pay that off? Or absolutely not??

You're only supposed to use your refund for educational purposes. That is why the government gives you the privilege of having them. However, no one knows what you use your refund for and it's not being tracked. It's just a matter of judgment. You will not be the first one to use it for non-educational use and you won't be the last. Just always remember, paying off debt with debt isn't always the best answer and you will have to pay that $10,000 back soon.
