I hear you're not supposed to use Flea Treatments like Frontline, etc until after they turn 8 weeks old.

  1. Only Natural Pet All-in-One Flea Remedy

Only Natural Pet Herbal Defense Spray

Only Natural Pet Herbal Defense Shampoo & Conditioner

    Anibio Tic Clip

Only Natural Pet Brewer's Yeast & Garlic Tablets

Sentry Natural Defense Squeeze-On for Cats

  2. A cute little flea collar.

  3. I volunteer for a shelter, and know that fleas are deadly.  if you have a serious problem, then I would treat with frontline - but only use a few drops per kitten.  at the shelter we do it all the time, and have talked to a merial rep about it and they say it is safe.

if you just found them and they have fleas, you can give them a bath using dawn dish washing soap to kill the fleas that are on them at the moment.  This will buy you some time to get them till they are 8 weeks when they can have the full dose of FL.

  4. Lysergic acid diethylamide

  5. get a fluffy flea collar  or a gangsta fluffy collar  sayin whos ur daddy..j/k

  6. I've had good experiences with Revolution.  I wouldn't apply it to the kittens but if you apply it to mom, it will eventually kill the fleas on the kittens as well.  Revolution kills fleas, mites etc so it's a good all purpose product.  It is a bit spendy but in my opinion, it is worth it.  I've used it on several of my momma cats when I was breeding and never had a problem with it.  I would remove mom from the kittens to treat, apply the revolution, allow a few minutes to dry and then allow her to return to her babies.  I usually would treat the mom before the babies arrived so you wouldn't have this issue - something to remember if there is a next time for this female cat.  Do NOT apply to the kittens if they are less than 6 weeks old and I wouldn't use it even for 8 week old ones altho it does say it's safe.  I just prefer to not apply anything to kittens (except their mom's tongue LOL) until they're 8-10 weeks old.

If you have a serious flea problem and some areas do (or like I did, I had a neighbor that never put a flea killing product on her 8 dogs and 12 cats.....so there was no way to keep them out of my house or off my cats!)  you can also use a very natural product called Diatomaceous Earth which is sprinkled around on the carpets and corners, etc with good results altho it will take some time for it to work.  The nice thing tho as long as it isn't vacuumed up, it will work with no danger to your animals unless they eat tons of it (and it's not tasty <g>).

Realize that altho what you are seeing are adult fleas, around your house and on your cat are eggs which will hatch and produce more fleas unless whatever product you use kills the eggs too (which revolution does). But areas where your kitty goes will have eggs waiting to hatch so it's a good idea to try and kill off those too.  Another thing that I've heard of is by placing a shallow pan of water with a little dish detergent on the floor. Position a gooseneck lamp or similar type lamp with the light on about five to six inches above the liquid surface. Fleas will leap toward the light at night, fall into the detergent solution and drown. It isn't a good method of control tho but it will tell you if there are any fleas still running around the house besides killing those that are attracted to the light.

Fleas - they are the bane of a good pet owners existence I think - and I'm sure our pets aren't too fond of them either.  Good luck - try the Revolution if you can, it is the quickest method to take care of the fleas on the little ones!!

  7. Your best bet would be to talk to a vet. But you can go to a pet store or grocery and look through the shampoo section. On the back, it should say 'for cats, six months and up' or other things. Look for the brands that say 'for kittens and cats' followed by the age of your kittens. But really, talking to a vet before you do anything is best for your cat.

EDIT: Forgot to add that flea collars are a BAD idea. It's dangerous to the kitten.

  8. i think there is a topical that you can get (by Rx only) that is for like 6 wks+ . it might be revolution (or perhaps advantage).

Neways, ive helped take care of numerous orphaned kittens over the years, and have always just given them flea baths. They make shampoo that safe to use on kittens. Usually with young kittens i dont put the shampoo directly on the skin (just in the water and then dip the kitty in). And after the bath i just comb out any fleas i still see.

I recently just had to give a flea bath to this little kitten (she was 8 or 9 wks old ) but she was severly underweight so i didnt want to use a topical on her. I must have gotten 200 fleas off of this little kitten, by combing and bathing. Sadly there was still a few i missed, but the little kitty sure felt better once the fleas were nearly gone.

  9. I gave my kittens a capstar at 4 weeks, put 2 drops of frontline on them and today they are still flea free!!
