  1. There is special styrofoam glue, and you can combine it with toothpicks so that the glue will set well.

  2. I think BAMBOO SCEWERS  excuse the spelling!!  There would be less mess and these are very inexpensive and re positionable.  I'm afraid that toothpicks would be less stable for 12X18 blocks.  You can find the scewers in the BBQ section of your grocery store, and sometimes near the aluminum foil at Dollar Stores.  They aren't too expensive and if the kids make a mistake early on, they could remove some "ice cubes" and try again without needing additional supplies. Have fun!  I wish you could post pics of finished resolved projects in the hobbies and Crafts section of Answers!

  3. Be careful. some glues that are petro. chem based will melt the styro. For blocks that large, try small dowel rods that you can get at any home store. IE lowes, home depot, menards.

    Sounds like a great project

    Have fun

  4. Liquid nails comes in caulk-like tubes that hold a really strong bond.

  5. spray can glue

  6. Toothpicks.  I dont think glue would work very well as styrofoam is pretty porus. . . i always used toothpicks doing school procects,  or the metal wire out of pipe cleaners.

  7. i'd go with toothpicks and glue , the toothpicks add a little stability and the glue to lock them all together. sounds like a good project i want to build something, can i help lol =) j/k

have good day and good luck

  8. Try hot glue. You'll have to plug in the small glue gun, but it dries fast, and its not too expensive. Make sure to get lots of extra glue sticks so that you don't run out =)

  9. If you use a glue gun, it's best to use the 'cool' type.

How big is your igloo going to be?  Will it be indoors or outside?  I once had a friend who was building an igloo from empty gallon-size milk jugs.  I didn't see the finished product but it was looking good when it was about three feet high!

Of course, if you want to try the milk jugs and your 'ice palace' will be large enough to walk in, you can ask friends, relatives, and neighbors to save jugs for you.  (Also, ask them to save the lids as well, and to please rinse the empty jugs)!

  10. You can try very thin metal rods for strength and fill the rest with craft glue.

  11. 3M Double sided tape. GoOOooOoOoD!

  12. Glue.

  13. You can use a hot glue gun. they work really good, much better then normal glue! And, it dries much faster then normal glue. :]

  14. cellotape

  16. Well, everyone wrote what i was going to write,so either hot glue, the yellow sticks are stronger,or brand (melt) them together very carefully with a soldering gun.
