  1. Instead of water, try steaming with chicken broth.  Instead of salt, maybe use lemon pepper or garlic salt.

You can also sautee in a pan with chicken broth & diced garlic.

  2. I steam broccoli and add it to carmelized shallots (shallots are small onions - slice them and cook them in butter to carmelize, they're done when they are browned).  Add some slivered almonds (bake them a couple of minutes) and some pepper and salt.  It's really good.

I have a blog with other tips and recipes if you care to take a look:http://buzz.prevention.com/community/cat...

  3. Shredded sharp cheddar cheese or grated parmesan cheese.

  4. Assuming there's something wrong with it's natural flavor?

A nice cheddar cheese sauce or a light dusting of some freshly grated parmesan, asiago, romano or other hard cheese.

  5. flavor your water with a boiullon cube. That's what I do. Or put a cheese sauce on it,

  6. If it's barely steamed, then it has so much fresh flavor that it just needs a little REAL butter and Kosher or sea salt.  If yours doesn't have that taste, you might be overcooking it.  I put the florets in 1/4" water; cover with waxed paper, and microwave just about 2 min - just until it turns bright green and is still crisp & crunchy.   In fact, you could let it cool and then dip it into Ranch dressing, if you want.  Personally, I don't like cheese sauces on veggies, because that smothers their natural fresh flavors.......And, if you add citric acid or vinegar to it, it will turn a disgusting olive green color....

  7. Lemon juice

    dijon mustard

    light ranch dressing

Anything with a bit of zip...

  8. add lemon juice and a bit of butter, salt and pepper.

  9. Minced Garlic

  10. Any of the Ms. Dash seasonings are amazing on steamed veggies. It's salt and calorie-free!

  11. Serve smothered in either cheese sauce or hollandaise sauce.

  12. add garlic and a little bit of minced hot peppers and salt

  13. I love to sprinkle fresh pamesan cheese on my broccoli.  Very tasty.  (I also sometimes add black beans to the broccoli and then add the cheese.)

  14. I lightly cook the broccoli in water while the oven preheats to 400.  Then I put the broccoli on a cookie sheet, drizzle with EVOO, S&P, and top with shredded parmesan.  Bake until cheese melts and looks toasty brown.  Mmmmm.....

  15. Sprinkle with cheese. Drizzle olive oil over it. Chopped some red onion on it.

  16. Cheese Whiz...
