Question:

What can I use to protect a poster in a dorm room, where I cannot hang a frame

I need to come up with something to hang and protect a 27 x 40 poster I don't want getting damaged. I cannot use nails, and a frame is too heavy for anything that won't damage the dorm room walls. I need something that's like a plastic sleeve I can just slide the poster in that is still light enough to be hung up using something like Command poster strips.

Any ideas are welcome. THANK YOU!

  1. fyi:if its so important to you DONT BRING IT.

    woah that was hard.

  2. Try your nearest map store or large art supply.  Price a piece of thick flexible acrylic sheeting, enough to make a sleeve.  Then make an envelope, bu do not put the seam at an edge, rather fold it into the middle of the back, so the seam does not show on the front.  You will need to seal the sides, and I would ask at a large art supply what they recommend.  (You won't want glossy with matte finish, try to get matte in both poster sleeve and seal.)

  3. don't have that poster anywhere near the dorm BUILDING let alone in the room...

keep it at your folks house or in a safe deposit box at the bank. there it will be safe...college kids are notorious for tearing up dormitories (rooms, halls, study/break rooms, dining rooms, elevators, walls, ceilings and doors...) this must be your freshman year...you are in for a real eye opener.

  4. Laminate it - but it might get expensive. You'd definitely have to call around and get pricing to see if it is worth it.
