  1. Is his skin dry? You can put some vitamin E on his belly, it is safe and won't harm the dogs skin.  It will heal any scabs or dry skin on the dogs coat

Edit: Have you tried good vitamin e?  For my dog (he gets extremely bad hot spots and we use this) we get Andrew Lessman's Vitamin E capsules.  My dog also HATES sprays and powders.  We prick the capsule and pour it on our fingers, then rub it onto the area.  It works wonders for my dog

  2. Is it that he has dry skin? I'm sure a hypoallergenic, unscented lotion for sensitive skin would be okay, if that's the case. If he has some sort of skin problem, he should be taken to the vet for it, as doing home treatment for a serious skin problem, can worsen it.

  3. You can buy spray hydrocortisone for dogs too.  OR you can go the all-natural/cheap route.  Seep two chamomile tea bags and let one asprin dissolve with them.  Once the tea and tea bags cool, apply both the tea and tea bags to his belly.  Its soothing and moisturizing.

  4. Try putting a few fish oil caps in his food each day.

They are fantastic and you wont need to worry about lotions and potions.

I like Salmon oil and I always choose one that has a small amount of vitamin E oil in it too.

The vitamin E oils works well with Omega 3 and is great for dry skin. I had Rocco on 2 or 3 caps a day that were 1000mg in strength.

Moisture from the inside out, the oils come out through the skin, may take a few weeks to a month, but have a brilliant soothing effect on the skin too.

    Good Luck.

Add On; You may not be interested in this but heres a link of a vet who specialises in allergies.

I have posted you the opening page, but if you look to the top right side you will see 'articles'. If you click on that you will see one about treating allergic cats and dogs.

I love her work and love her articles in Nova magazine. She is all for diet for dry skin and allergies. Rocco had allergies when he was a pup, I feed him a raw, grainless diet now and he is so healthy. He has a shine on his coat like I have never seen in a dog and is so healthy.

Sometimes it takes more than just fish oil. She has an article on real food too.
