I know this is going to sound strange but it works. Soak the clothing in Apple Cider Vinegar for a couple of hours before washing. Be sure to dilute the vinegar down some with water. I know this works for odor not too sure about stains though.

I use Goop Brand hand cleaner.  It has directions for stain removal on can and can be found at auto parts stores as usually mechanics use it to get grease off.  

I just brush it in with a little knuckle brush - let stand over night and then wash as normal.  If it smells really bad I would probably run some of the laundry liquid into just before washing.

~~White vinegar. Put it in a spray bottle and spray stains until saturated. Let it sit for 15  to 60 minutes depending on how bad the stain is. Then lander as usual. The stain is gone and your clothes are soft and fresh smelling again! Safe for all clothes!~~
