What can I wear if my thighs are chaffing badley?

Do under armour compression shorts work good? I really need something I can wear underneath my running shorts b/c the inside of my thighs are bleeding and the skin is raw. Someone said the compression shorts work good, do they really?

  1. When I chaff I usually just put Vaseline on wherever is chaffed for the next few days until it heals, and it prevents your skin from getting more raw and cut up.


  2. Compression shorts help a lot when it comes to chafing.   Not only do they help reduce chafing, it also helps support your muscles.  When buying shorts, look for flat locked stitching and make sure the shorts are longer in the area of where you chafe. (for example, if you chafe in mid thigh area, go with just above the knee length shorts)  Compression short are suppose to fit tight, but not too tight when it starts to bulge out at the leg openings - it has to be comfortably fitted.  Most of them come with built in gusset so you could wear it by itself.   Go to a running store and get some Body Glide (its looks like a deodorant stick).  This really works to help prevent chafing.  Its small enough to carry with you (waist water bottle belt pocket) in case if you have to reapply in the longer runs.  I have used regular deodorant but the scents just irritated my skin.  Some people use Vaseline, but it is messy and can ruin your running clothes by blocking the wicking pores in the fabric.

    So yes, they really do work ;)

  3. There is a product called Body Glide that you can use. It looks like a stick of deodorant and you can buy it at any sporting goods store.

  4. Ouch, I hate that! At running stores, they have some spandex (I know...) shorts that come down to about mid thigh. Alot of girls on my cross country team wear them, just under their shorts. I think they are called compression shorts, but I'm not sure. But I'd definately check out your local running store, because they have them.
