Is there any side effects, or something about it I should be concerned about? I noticed I've become addicted to caffeine (which is bad, I know.) and most of the time I drink Energy Drinks (A majority of the time it's Rockstar) and I've been reading some information about it, but I haven't got some things clarified.

What does it have to do with digestion?

and also,

Can it have negative effects?

  1. taurine is for mind alertness, but everything that is too much had a bad side effects you may have palpitaions w/ccan lead you to difficulty of breathing and your heart might suffer, tremors and being addicted to it coz you are getting dependent to it.

  2. as an adolescent if you are a health buff you should start with proper diet: plant food- veg and fruit. if it is affordable look for organically planted ones. avoid processed food and drinks... canned or bottled...they are harmful to our immune system...drink mineral water .

  3. Yes , it speeds up your heart. Drink enough of it and you may get  a heart attack!

  4. Taurine is a good enough stimulant and in high doses it can do harm just as with anything else. However, there is not enough of it in energy drinks or anything else to do any harm even if you drink them in high doses. Long before that would happen you would have had too many problems with the amounts of sugar and caffeine consumed.

Taurine is an organic acid that is the building blocks for ALL amino acids. It is found on our heart, nervous system, skeletal muscles, white blood cells and our bile where it is needed to process and digest fats and oils including fat soluable nutrients.

Limit your enrgy drink and caffeine intake. The maximum safe amount of caffeine we can consume in a day is 300mg and energy drinks have 80mg per serving. The makers also recommend having only 1 to 2 a day and the large cans are 2. Even the top healthy energy drink, XS Energy, which also the 2nd largest drink behind Red Bull recommends 1 to 2.

  5. There's not a great deal of research into the negative effects of taurine at the moment, but you might find this link interesting. It explains what taurine is; the positive effects it can have on the body; and some tips for safe consumption.

The general consensus is that, like caffeine, you should consume it in moderation.
