What can a cop do if he catches a MINOR smoking?

Question

I've been smoking cigars for about 2 years... Anyway, so if a cop sees me (minor) smoking a cigar on college campus, what happens? What if its a no smoking area (outside?)

And also, save the "oh you gunna get canca!"

I don't care, and before people say it, yes I think I'm invincible.

Smoking by minors isn't illegal in every state. Even if it is, the cops in many places have more important things on their hands than arresting half the country's teenagers. And even if they did bust you, you'd probaby just get a ticket or something -- the consequences aren't severe. In a few nutty localtiies, community service or some kind of class. Finally, unless you're like 12 or something it's unlikely that anyone would notice you smoking on a college campus, where there are lots of 18 year olds about. They'll probably just assume you're another freshman. Keep in mind that they can't ask you for proof of age, as a store can. If they go around arresting young looking 19 year olds for smoking, they're going to get into trouble.

So, chill.

OTOH, you could get in trouble for smoking in a no-smoking area, might even get a fine -- and then they'd see your age and you might get another one for being underaged. I'd stick to the smoking area out of respect for the law and your fellow students. (Not that I always took that advice when I was in college, heh.)

i was with ya ,tell ya said canca!----MY FATHER DIED FROM SMOKING!----------i smoke , im no better than any one, my bro of 34 years is going in tomorrow to have a camera shoved down his throat-in to his lung to see a mass of c**p that looks like road tar,--------and they are going to cut it out---sorry i got off the original question,---------oh -and dont be smokin in a NO smoking area,    -why the h**l should any one else have to breath your habit,,,?YOU ----came into an environment that had no stinky a-ss  cigar smoke ! and stank it up,,----now-- is that fair to others?--life--or slow,,,,,,,,,,,,,very very slow death.....comon DUDE..just stop smoking

Probably take you with him "down town" scare that c**p out of you,and give you a gigantic fine your bad (a-word) self can't afford until you get mommy to pay.Don't worry you wont die from canca you'll die from cancer,I know my uncle did.Sad story,too bad he only had three kids...we called him super man until his invincibility ran out(the day he died).By the way apparently this so called "thinking" that your doing isn't working for you.

He can give you a ticket and a nice fine. Other than that, there isn't much else they can do.

But if you are smoking in a no-smoking area, you are kind of asking for it. Most places are non-smoking within a certain radius of entrances, so I suggest going to your car or parking lot.

Depending on state statutes, city ordinances, and school policy, you will be in trouble. You do the math.
